Development of a piling system of precast piles by applying rotary jet
This report relates to a pilling system which has been newly developed as building foundation technique in the inner city. This system is characterized in that the foundation is excavated by a rotary jet and precast piles are installed in the fluid excavation. Mention will be made of the results which have ben obtained through fundamental experiments in excavation and fluidization of soil by rotary jets, such as the relation between soil conditions and jet conditions, and the relation between the extent of fluidization and pile penetration, etc. Test results will be also reported on the bearing capacity of piles which has been constructed using this technique. Furthermore, an automatic system of excavation and a circulation system for removing drilling mud will be introduced.
