Advances in waterborne coatings for joinery
Extensive evaluations have also shown that just the polymer species (viz. alkyd emulsion or acrylic dispersion) by themselves are not the most dominant parameter for high performance and durability of coatings for joinery - the final coating formulation is dominant. When correctly formulated, the new generation hybrid primer / impregnant combination with a core-shell acrylic topcoat offers distinctly superior performance over traditional waterborne products. Sigma 'Plus Packet' is selectively formulated for such optimum performance. This includes higher durability and thus, low maintenance demand. This enhancement of joinery coating systems performance represents an opportunity to further realise competetiveness of new wooden joinery construction when compared to aluminium and plastic.
