Corrosion monitoring system for a reinforced concrete transit tunnel
An integrated monitoring system was installed in a reinforced concrete transit tunnel where stray direct current corrosion was expected. The 9-km tunnel was divided into insulated 300-m long sections, each monitored by reference electrodes for potential and current flowing within the concrete. All readings were collected in a centralized data acquisition system for interpretation and storing. The results obtained during commissioning and early operation are discussed.
