In case the anhydrite surface is located well above the tunnel, the Gypsum Keuper is found completely dry during tunnel driving. Such a dry section can be lined by concrete with reasonable amount of reinforcement and should be sealed by a special sealing structure against the water bearing layers. Corresponding analyses provide the grounds for the required extent of grouting around such a sealing structure.
In case the anhydrite level is located right underneath the tunnel, the principle of yielding support can be applied with additional resin grouting adjacent to the tunnel.
High horizontal swelling pressure can occur, if the anhydrite level is located in the middle of the tunnel cross section.
