A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Countless management training courses stress the importance of good, clear communication, but it seems that despite ubiquitous cell phones, tablets, e‐mail, and the whole social media universe, that good, clear communication ‐ so vital to effective management and leadership ‐ is often lacking. Why? In the paragraphs to follow, I proffer a couple of reasons this may be occurring, one relating to the communication medium and the other to the messaging itself. A third consideration is how the receiver “decodes” the message and whether he or she understands the intent or has a different takeaway from what was intended.
