This article describes how Instituform Technologies Inc., a provider of trenchless technologies and services for the rehabilitation of municipal sewers, water mains, and industrial piping systems, recently took the unusual step of using a rented barge to rehabilitate nearly 4 mi (6 km) of clay sewers along the shoreline of a Missouri lake. Rather than dig up and replace the pipe, which had been heavily damaged by tree roots, Instituform used its cured‐in‐place rehabilitation technology to restore the sewers' structural integrity.
