Effect of Triticale Milling Coarseness on Biogas Production
The objective of this study was to investigate the digestibility of triticale grain kernels in anaerobic digestion (AD) systems as compared with coarse triticale. Although the biogas yield of grain kernels in fermentation batch tests was 11 % lower than the biogas yield of coarse triticale after 39 days fermentation time, the parallel semi‐continuous fermentations showed the adaptability of the system to the grain kernels AD. The results are important for the prevention of foaming when grain is used as a substrate in AD plants.
