Carbohydrates and Proteins Removals in Activated‐Sludge Procedure
In laboratory model apparatus the process of the biochemical removal of glucose and albumin was investigated in the presence of prepared activated sludge. The carbohydrate and protein components are determined according to colorimetric techniques. The biochemical and chemical oxygen demands of the model waters correlated with the concentrations of carbohydrate and protein. The progress of the removal depends on the concentration of both substrates, the biomass concentration and the composition and type of micro‐organisms.
