Die Einsatzgebiete der Biotechnologie beschränken sich nicht länger nur auf die Pharmaindustrie und die Landwirtschaft. Auch die Chemieindustrie profitiert in zunehmendem Maße davon. Damit die Biotechnologie ihr Potenzial jedoch voll ausschöpfen kann, sind optimale Rahmenbedingungen nötig. Dies betrifft die Akzeptanz und Unterstützung seitens der Verbraucher, der Industrie und des Staates. Ohne ein günstiges Umfeld wird Deutschland bei dieser wichtigen Zukunftstechnologie gegenüber anderen Regionen der Welt das Nachsehen haben.
The Third Wave – Biotechnology Conquers the Chemical Industry
Biotechnology is not longer limited to pharmaceutical industry and agriculture. Also the chemical industry can benefit from biotechnological production processes. Without an optimal environment in terms of acceptance and legislation, the potential of biotechnology, however, will not be used to its full extent. If Germany will not be able to provide such conditions competitors in other areas of the world will be more successful.
