A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The final step in the construction project life cycle is the project closeout. While project closeout occurs at the end of the project, planning for closeout starts in the initial pre‐construction phase. Project closeout can be classified into two categories, contract and administrative, each with its own field of focus. Overlapping duties in each can often provide a check and balance to the process, thereby ensuring a complete transition. The final documentation is archived for future use. The closeout process is aimed at creating a smooth transition between the contractor and the owner during the turnover. This turnover must be orderly and professional and must demonstrate the contractor's commitment right to the end. Ideally each project imparts some practical wisdom on the participants. It is the by‐product of experiencing and solving real life problems or creating opportunities that are part of every project.
