Brine Control Projects in the Arkansas and Red River Basins
After the U.S. Public Health Service had identified the primary causes of the water quality deterioration of the Arkansas and Red River basins, and had located the fifteen major natural chloride pollution areas, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began researching the best solutions to the problems of controlling and managing these sources. The study report will be submitted in two parts. The first part sums up the studies to date, together with conclusions and recommendations for authorization of specific works that are found to warrant construction at this time. The second part of the report, also scheduled for submission during 1965, will complete the response to the congressional request for the study by presenting plans for control of all of the major natural source areas throughout the two river basins.
