Investigation of Natural Brine and Its Control in the Arkansas and Red River Basins
The Arkansas‐Red River Basins Water Quality Conservation Project is an intensive field investigation and study of natural and man‐made brines that represents the first step by the U.S. Public Health Service in the development of a comprehensive program to control water pollution in the two basins. The area studied encompasses all of Oklahoma and portions of Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Altogether, 327 counties and parishes are included. Plans for water quality control in the basins depend upon the extent to which the mineral pollutants entering these streams are eliminated.
