Architecture, City, Landscape: The Place of History in Pedagogy Integrating the Climatic Emergency
This chapter presents a reproduction of a roundtable discussion dedicated to the historical dimension of climate issues. It demonstrates how history makes it possible for other disciplines taught in architecture and landscape schools to be put into perspective. This question is addressed through three inputs: the landscape approach to climatic heritage, the challenges of teaching environmental history and the integration of climate history into the teaching of architectural history. Generally centered on the fruits of human genius, the history of architecture, the city and the landscape also provides rich testimony on the genealogy of the crises that we are experiencing. Exchanges about research and the teaching of architectural history, the city and the landscape will continue to be enriched, enhancing the pedagogy of our institutions and contributing to the urgent changes that we have to make together.
