Common pipe flow formulas compared with the theory of roughness
A brief review is made of the theory of roughness, of the test results on which the recommended roughness values were based, and of various exponential formulas (and their suitability) in common use in the United States. The author also presents a table of recommended values of the Hazen‐Williams coefficient C, based on a close comparison with the theory of roughness, which is a popular formula in the United States.
