The author cautions that predicting the hydraulic characteristics of sand mixtures based solely on grain size without considering critical‐particle‐diameter ratios may lead to large errors. The author discusses similar velocity (saturated) and hydraulic conductivity values that were found for three different sand textures while conducting preliminary sedimentation studies.
