This chapter covers the following topics: creating ceilings, creating ceiling openings and soffits, adding interior design and adding alternate floor materials. In the Autodesk® Revit® Architecture platform, architects are looking at a true reflected ceiling plan. With the plan region in place, architects can place a ceiling at a higher distance from the finish floor. Because architects are going to the trouble of placing a high ceiling, architects might as well make the ceiling something special. A ceiling consists of nothing more than a basic hatch pattern applied to a material. Actually, everything in Revit is a basic hatch pattern applied to a material. Adding lighting fixtures to a Revit Architecture model is not a difficult task, but architects must follow a few guidelines to achieve success in installing lighting. Adding casework and furniture is the easiest part—that is, if architects like the casework and furniture that comes right out of the Revit box.
