Accident Investigation and Record Keeping
Records of accidents supply the information necessary to transform haphazard, costly and ineffective safety work into a planned safety program that permits full use of all the techniques proved effective in controlling the specific conditions and acts that cause accidents. Records are the foundation of a systematic approach to accident prevention. This article discusses six steps in developing adequate information about accident experience, along with the recommended types of report forms, supervisor's report, accident factors, information and publicity, comparing injury experience with that of similar companies, injury rate computation, injury categories, accident investigations, advantages of inquiry, accident report, and costs of accidents.
