Work Area Safety on Streets and Highways
Water utilities are doing a good job in providing protection for their own employees, the motorists, and the pedestrians, but there is always room for improvement. There has been a great advancement in warning systems for both day and night use. On large jobs, the diverse protection arrangements show more planning and forethought, which reduce confusion among motorists and result in fewer accidents. It has been demonstrated conclusively that no one system is ideal, but that each work location requires special combinations of protective devices to achieve the most effective overall protective scheme.
