Advance Notice Required to Stop Water Service
Sunshine Utilities of Central Florida Inc. operated more than 20 water plants and served customers in Marion County. The company was wholly owned by James Hodges Jr. and his wife. Sunshine filed an application for a rate increase in October 1990. In May 1991, the Public Service Commission (PSC) said it would grant an increase but in a smaller amount than requested. Specifically, it would exclude from the rate base a reduction in the requested president's salary from a proposed salary of $69,055 to $43,372. The PSC then issued an order adopting the recommended reduction.
