Responses to Major Droughts in Municipal Water Supply Systems
This article discusses drought conditions in Colorado and the 2002 outdoor water use program of the City of Aurora, Colorado. This program is the first of its kind in Colorado in more than 20 years to declare the need for mandatory water restrictions. Lessons learned from this effort by the City of Aurora are discussed and examples of planning by the utility for the 2003 Water Conservation Program are given.
