This chapter illustrates the major materials and methods used to finish the interior wall, ceiling and floor surfaces of a building. Interior walls should be resistant to wear and be cleanable; floors should be durable, comfortable and safe to walk on; ceilings should be relatively maintenance‐free. The chapter briefly describes the building material such as plasters, plasterboard, ceramic tiles, plastic laminate and explains plaster lath & accessories, plaster partition systems, plaster over masonry, plaster ceilings, and its types and applications. The different types of flooring techniques such as terrazzo flooring, timber flooring, stone flooring, resilient flooring and its installation process are also explained. It also illustrates the building construction methods such as carpeting, acoustic ceiling tiles, suspended acoustic ceilings, timber joinery, timber mouldings & trim and timber panelling. The chapter also presents and describes the classification of european standards on plywood veneers.
