Driftwood Rock
Driftwood Rock series explores a blend between the expressive nature of driftwood and geometric architectural elements. What initially started as structures placed on the ground was curated towards elevated structures with exaggerated cantilevers. Darkwood Dub series plays with the dialogue between tectonic geometries and the inherent organic features of raw timber. Latent Materiality explores the formal and textural qualities of timber and stone at the scale of sculptures and deep surfaces while taking into consideration the properties of each material and the method of formation. Carved, laminated, and steam‐bent timber structures imagined out of driftwood and hardwood. Instructions such as recursion, delamination, erosion, voxelization, and carving had the purpose of replicating algorithmic design methods. Stone sculptures explores combinations of formation methods with different types of stone (scholar rock, sandstone, marble etc.).
