This thesis explores the transformation of the Beirut Port explosion site into a central park and memorial. Using architectural theories on preservation, memory, disaster, ruins, and trauma relief, the study aims to commemorate the tragedy of August 4th, 2020, while creating a green pulse within the city of Beirut. By engaging with adaptive reuse and landscape design, the project transforms the site into a central park, giving the people of Lebanon a missing presence in the capital, but also preserving the essence of the explosion that holds deep meaning for all Lebanese citizens. The goal is to reclaim a devastated space, fostering resilience and hope for future generations while honoring the tragic past.
