Modern Institutional buildings in Florianopolis
The article analyses institutional buildings of the modern period in Florianopolis, identifying its manifestations and impacts at the time of its production, between 1930 and 1980. These works are divided into three temporal cycles: the first defined by the insertion of modernist ideas and coexistence of different architectural languages; the second by the spread of modernism, influenced by other Brazilian experiences; and the third by vertical growth and technological sophistication, with the expansion of the use of reinforced concrete. The research spatially defines five city areas where the buildings are located. These configure urban centers, showing that public investment clearly conditioned the occupation. We also noted the presence of 32 buildings, 7 originated from federal institutions, 18 from the state power, 2 municipal and 5 from other categories. Its new typologies, spatial and form results inserted in the landscape and in the context of different times of the city currently mark regions and locations, promoting reading these buildings as remaining artifacts of a time when the city had a great ideal: modernize itself and adopt public spaces and services as the new image quality planned for the capital.
