New quay at Albert Edward dock on the tyne
New quay is situated on river front of Albert Edward Dock; alongside of quay, which is 1100 ft. in length, dredging has been carried out to 25 ft. and provision has been made for ultimate depth to 30 ft. at low water of ordinary spring tides; first step was to drive sheet piling along nearly whole length of old quay, and to tie sheet piling back, at frequent intervals, to anchor blocks placed under passenger platform of transit shed.
