Rance River cutoff for construction of tidal power plant
Work on construction of cofferdam cutting river from sea to form tidal water basin, is described; 600 m long dam consists of two anchorages formed by steel gabions 19 m in diam constructed from sheet piling, and 360 m long central part formed by 18 reinforced concrete caissons, 11 of which are 21 m in diam, and seven having 18 m diam, their height varying from 19 to 27 m; work was concluded partially under very difficult conditions caused by high tides.
