Radial impact on elastically supported ring
Theory investigated by tests of 24-in. diam ring radially supported by large number of coil springs; impulses of half sine characteristic were delivered by pendulum, and force of impact was accurately measured with dynamometer; observed frequencies of vibration agreed with those computed by theory very closely; in development of theory, damping effects, rotary inertia, and shear are neglected. (See also - discussion v 79 Separate n 374 Dec 1953 p 1-2)
