The invention discloses a sound-insulation novel building material. The sound-insulation novel building material comprises, by weight, 15-35 parts of polyvinyl chloride, 10-25 parts of plant fiber, 10-15 parts of melamine resin, 5-15 parts of calcium carbonate, 3-8 parts of diatomite, 5-10 parts of magnesium oxide, 3-8 parts of silicon carbide, 1-5 parts of a toughening agent, 1-3 parts of a flame retardant, 1-3 parts of an adhesive, 0.1-0.8 parts of a dispersant and 0.1-0.5 parts of a thickening agent. The building material provided by the invention has excellent sound insulation performance, good mechanical properties, and certain strength and heat resistance, and has no harms to human bodies or environment after the material is combusted.
