The invention relates to an artificial stone. Raw materials for producing the artificial stone comprise 50-60wt% of silica, 25-35wt% of alumina, 6-10wt% of potassium oxide, 0.2-0.4wt% of calcium oxide, 0-0.5wt% of magnesium oxide, 0.03-0.05wt% of iron oxide and 2-5wt% of a new crystal nucleus material. A production method of the artificial stone comprises the following steps: weighing above components according to above weight percentages; mixing; uniformly mixing the components in a stirring cylinder at 800-1000r/min for 10-25min; and carrying out compression molding under a pressure of 500MPa or above, sintering at 1100-1300DEG C, and cooling to the artificial stone. The proportioning of the components and the addition of the new crystal nucleus material effectively improve strength and the wear resistance of the artificial stone and make the artificial stone have the advantages of small transmittance, easy processing and low production cost.
