The invention relates to a Cr2AlC/Al2O3 composite material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: weighing Cr3C2 powder, Cr powder, Al powder and metal oxide Cr2O3 according to a certain proportion, putting in an alumina ball mill, carrying out mixing and ball milling in the ball mill by using anhydrous ethanol as a ball milling medium, drying the ball milling powder at certain temperature, adding the dry powder into a graphite jig, carrying out hot pressed sintering at certain temperature under certain pressure, and naturally cooling to room temperature to obtain the Cr2AlC/Al2O3 composite material. The preparation method can lower the grain size, and has the characteristics of low cost and low synthesis temperature.
