The invention discloses an online rail welded joint flatness detection method which comprises the following steps of: fixing a chord line to the surface of a steel rail by virtue of two end part fixing blocks, wherein the two end part fixing blocks are respectively arranged at two sides of a joint of the steel rail by taking the joint as a center; arranging an L-shaped steel plate ruler beside the chord line so as to measure the distance between the steel rail on each sleeper and the chord line, thereby measuring the maximal vector deviation, wherein the maximal vector is equal to the maximal distance value minus the minimal distance value; regulating the steel rail placement state so as to ensure that the maximal vector deviation is not greater than 1mm; and measuring the flatness of the joint of the steel rail. By virtue of the online rail welded joint flatness detection method, the steel rail can be regulated to a reasonable placement state according to the measurement result, so that the measured joint flatness can reflect the actual situation of the joint flatness.
