An improved method for construction of a reserved slot at the downstream dam surface for cooling pipe installation comprises the steps that 1, after a template (5) below a pouring bin position is installed, geotechnical cloth (2) is tied to the exposed end of a cooling pipe (1) and is then smeared with concrete separating materials, and the exposed end of the cooling pipe (1) is made to be attached to the template (5); 2, the lower template (5) is detached, then the geotechnical cloth (2) at the exposed end of the cooling pipe (1) is detached, and concrete near the end is removed to enable the end to be exposed by a length enough for welding a sleeve (3); 3, the sleeve (3) is welded to the exposed end of the cooling pipe (1) to enable the cooling pipe (1) to be communicated with an external pipe (4), normal water supply is ensured, construction cost is reduced, working efficiency is improved, and construction quality is guaranteed.
