The invention discloses a method for preparing yttrium aluminium garnet transparent ceramic. According to the invention, freeze drying is introduced into the drying process, moisture in a green body is quickly solidified by using low temperature, and the moisture in green body is removed in a sublimation method, so that the drying time is favorably shortened, and the difference of inner and outer densities of the green body is avoided. The yttrium aluminium garnet transparent ceramic prepared according to the invention can solve the problems that the green body is cracked, the drying speed of the surface layer is too fast and the like in the natural drying process; the drying time of the yttrium aluminium garnet transparent ceramic prepared by slip casting can be effectively shortened, and consistency of inner and outer densities of the green body is improved. The light transmittance of the ceramic prepared according to the invention is more than 83% when the wavelength is 1064 nm.
