The invention discloses a steel strand with a polyurea protection coating. The steel strand comprises a steel strand body I1 with the polyurea protection coating and a steel strand body I4 with the polyurea protection coating, wherein the surface of a center wire and the surfaces of side wires are each provided with the polyurea protection coating made of polyurea materials. Or the steel strand comprises a steel strand body II 1 and a steel strand body II4, wherein the surface of the center wire, the surfaces of the side wires and the periphery of the whole steel strand are each provided with the polyurea protection coating made of the polyurea materials. A manufacturing method of the steel strand comprises the steps that the surface of the preprocessed center wire and the surfaces of the preprocessed side wires are coated with the polyurea materials to form a polyurea protection layer, and then twisting is carried out to form the steel strand; and the periphery of the steel strand body I1 with the polyurea protection coating and the periphery of the steel strand body I4 with the polyurea protection coating are coated with the polyurea materials, and the steel strand II1 with the polyurea protection coating and the steel strand II 4 with the polyurea protection coating are manufactured on the periphery of the whole steel strand, wherein the steel strand II1 and the steel strand II 4 are composed of the polyurea protection coating. The steel strand manufactured through the method and provided with the polyurea protection coating is high in tensile strength, good in flexibility, high in damping, resistant to ageing, media and abrasion, and good in vibration damping performance; and the anti-corrosion capability of the steel strand can be greatly improved, and the service life of the steel strand is prolonged.
