The invention discloses a preparation method of castable used for a copper smelting chute. The castable comprises 35%-45% of silicon carbon with the particle diameter ranging from 3 mm to 1 mm, 20%-30% of silicon carbon with the particle diameter ranging from 1 mm to 0 mm, 0%-6% of silicon carbon fine powder with the particle diameter being 0.088 mm, 4%-8% of 325-mesh silicon nitride fine powder, 4%-6% of 80-mesh modified carbon fine powder, 0%-5% of sintered mullite fine powder with the particle diameter being 0.088 mm, 5%-10% of aluminate cementum, 3%-5% of silica fume, 4%-8% of alpha alumina micro powder and 2.0%-4.0% of composite additives. The preparation method comprises the steps of preparing modified carbon materials, preparing the composite additives, conducting mixing, and finally obtaining the castable. The prepared castable used for the copper smelting chute is good in metallic copper erosion and penetrating resistance, great in integrity of the copper smelting chute and high in strength, and the service life of the copper smelting chute is five to six times that of a current product.
