The invention relates to an ecological restoration method for a high and steep step slope of an open-pit quarrying mine. The method comprises the following steps of: drilling and blasting to reduce the step: reducing a high and steep step into a low and steep step by adopting the method of excavating rock by drilling, charging and blasting; slope treatment: mechanically and manually cleaning broken stones and soil generated by blasting from top down; planting steel bars on a step surface: planting the steel bars on the step surface; pouring a retaining wall; covering the step surface with soil: fully mixing compound fertilizer with a mixture of mine stripped surface soil, humus soil and organic matter to obtain nutrient soil, laying the nutrient soil on the step surface between the retaining wall and the slope surface of the step, and enabling the laying thickness of the nutrient soil to be larger than 100 cm; irrigation engineering: digging irrigation ditches or laying irrigation water pipes on the laid nutrient soil; planting vegetation: planting plants on the nutrient soil; later maintenance; and information monitoring. The ecological restoration method can restore ecology in avery friendly manner, can achieve a safe and long-lasting treatment effect, is very convenient to maintain, and is very prone to apply and popularize.
