The invention relates to Al2O3-YAG composite powder suitable for thermal spraying as well as a preparation method and application of the Al2O3-YAG composite powder. The preparation method of the Al2O3-YAG composite powder comprises the following steps: (1) mixing Al2O3 powder and Y2O3 powder to obtain Al2O3/Y2O3 mixed powder; (2) calcining the obtained Al2O3/Y2O3 mixed powder at T1 to obtain calcined powder, wherein T1 is higher than or equal to 900 DEG C and lower than or equal to 1000 DEG C; and (3) repeating the step (2) for at least N-1 times on the obtained calcined powder, setting the calcining temperature of the Nth calcining treatment as TN, and setting TN to be greater than TN-1 until TN is 1500 DEG C, so as to obtain the Al2O3-YAG composite powder, where N is greater than or equal to 2.
