The travelling control method comprises the following steps that an earlywarning travelling duration threshold value and a safety travelling duration threshold value are obtained when the wheel excavator walks at a preset travelling speed, and the actual travelling duration of the wheel excavator during walking is obtained in real time; if it is detected that the actual travelling duration of the wheel excavator within the first duration before the current moment is larger than the early warning travelling duration threshold value, an early warning signal is sent out; and if it is detected that the actual travelling duration of the wheel excavator within the second duration before the current moment is larger than the safe travelling duration threshold value, a first alarm signal is sent out, and/or a travelling system of the wheel excavator is controlled to stop working. When the wheel excavator continuously walks for a certain period of time, early warning can be carried out firstly, if a driver continues to walk, warning information can be generated, the wheel excavator is gradually controlled to stop travelling, and the fault of oil leakage or oil pumping of a gearbox can be reduced to a certain extent.
