The invention discloses a gypsum board with an air purification function and a preparation method thereof. The gypsum board is prepared from gypsum clinker and a composite material of calcium alginateand biochar. The method comprises the following steps of: dissolving a foaming agent in water to obtain an aqueous solution of the foaming agent; mixing a binder, a water reducing agent and the aqueous solution of the foaming agent to obtain a foaming system; mixing the composite material of calcium alginate and biochar with an optional coupling agent, and then mixing an obtained mixture with gypsum clinker and the foaming system to obtain gypsum slurry; and attaching surface protection paper to the upper surface and the lower surface of the gypsum slurry during molding, and removing the surface protection paper at the lower part of a wet board after molding to obtain a single-paper-surface gypsum board with an air purification function. The gypsum board can effectively adsorb heavy metaland other harmful particles in air, and harm of heavy metal pollution to human bodies is eliminated.
