The method comprises the following steps: sampling and drying a sand sample forming tap sand; dividing the dried sand sample into a plurality of parts, and preparing into a plurality of parts of samples with different water contents; respectively carrying out a compaction test on each sample to obtain the dry density of each compacted sample; calculating the maximum dry density according to the moisture content and dry density data of the plurality of samples; sampling the tap sand, calculating the actually measured dry density, and comparing the actually measured dry density with the maximum dry density for analysis. The auxiliary tool includes a compaction device including a compaction barrel assembly and a compaction hammer assembly, the compaction barrel assembly including a compaction barrel body; the compaction hammer assembly is used for compacting the sand sample; the auxiliary tool also comprises a sampling device for sampling.
