The invention provides a frame of a door and a window and an installation method of the frame. The frame comprises a first body, a second body, a heat insulation plate and a protection plate; the protection plate at least covers the part, exposed out of the first body and the second body, of the heat insulation plate in the width direction; and the part, exposed out of the first body and the second body, of the heat insulation plate can be shielded by the protection plate along with the change of the external environment, so that the damage of the external environment to the heat insulation plate is avoided; and the protection plate is located on one side of the first body in the thickness direction and connected to the first body and the second body, and therefore the overall structural strength of the frame is improved. Therefore, based on the double-layer protection effect brought by the heat insulation plate and the protection plate, the dustproof and waterproof performance and the overall structural strength of the whole frame are greatly improved, and then the service life of the frame is prolonged. In addition, the frame is simple in structure and convenient to install, and installation cost cannot be additionally increased.
