The invention relates to the field of concrete, and particularly discloses a sodium gluconate modified polycarboxylic acid high-performance water reducing agent and a preparation process thereof. The modified polycarboxylic acid high-performance water reducing agent is prepared from 350-450 parts of methallyl alcohol polyoxyethylene ether, 65-75 parts of acrylic acid, 1-2 parts of 2-acrylamide-2-methallyl sulfonic acid, 2-5 parts of mercaptoethanol, 2-5 parts of vitamin C, and 80 to 110 parts of sodium gluconate; and the preparation method comprises the following steps: adding the methylallyl alcohol polyoxyethylene ether, the 2-acrylamide-2-methallyl sulfonic acid, a dispersing agent and a tackifier into a reaction kettle, then adding water to dissolve the components, adding the components into hydrogen peroxide after the components are completely dissolved, and uniformly stirring to obtain a pre-mixture; and dropwise adding the acrylic acid into the pre-mixture, and adjusting the pH value to be neutral, so as to obtain the modified polycarboxylic acid high-performance water reducing agent which can be used as an additive of concrete and has the advantage of improving the viscosity of the concrete.
