The invention relates to a preparation method of barium titanate powder, the preparation method specifically comprises the following steps: 1) respectively carrying out sanding pretreatment on a titanium source and a barium source as reaction raw materials until the average particle size of the titanium source and the barium source is below 200nm and the molar ratio of titanium to barium in the titanium source and the barium source is 1: (0.95-1.05); then carrying out mixing and sanding; obtaining a mixed raw material; 2) mixing the titanium source and the barium source treated in the step 1), and adding a solvent, a dispersing agent and a combustion improver into the mixed raw material; uniformly mixing to obtain mixed slurry; carrying out sanding and spray drying on the mixed slurry to obtain mixed powder; and 3) carrying out high-temperature calcination on the mixed powder obtained in the step 2) to obtain the barium titanate powder. Based on the solid-phase reaction principle and high-molecular polymer decomposition coating, the particle size of the barium titanate powder product is smaller and more uniform, and the tetragonal phase proportion is higher.
