The invention relates to the technical field of aerogel, in particular to an aerogel composite material as well as a preparation method and application thereof. The preparation method of the aerogel composite material comprises the following steps: placing fibers and silica sol in a mold, conducting mixing, carrying out compression molding, conducting vacuumizing to remove bubbles in the silica sol, carrying out supercritical drying on the silica gel, and coating the surface of the silica gel with a film-forming polymer to prepare the aerogel composite material. The aerogel and the fiber are compounded, so that the mechanical property of the aerogel is improved, and the aerogel has relatively high mechanical strength. The invention further provides the aerogel composite material prepared by the method and application of the aerogel composite material.
