The construction method comprises the following steps that an upper section of steel column is hoisted to an installation position by hoisting equipment; then the horizontal position of the upper section of steel column is adjusted, so that the central axes of the upper section of steel column and a lower section of steel column are located on the same straight line; the vertical position of the upper section of steel column is adjusted; after the adjustment is in place, a connecting lug plate of the upper section of steel column and a hoisting lug plate of the lower section of steel column are connected through a connecting plate and a bolt, so that the position relation between the upper section of steel column and the lower section of steel column which are adjusted in place is fixed; and the upper section of steel column and the lower section of steel column are fixed through spot welding, then the hoisting equipment is unhooked, then the upper section of steel column and the lower section of steel column are welded in a butt joint manner, and after welding is finished, the connecting plate, the hoisting lug plate and the connecting lug plate are disassembled after the quality of a welding seam is detected to be qualified.
