The muck-based unfired lightweight thermal insulation material is prepared from, by weight, 80 to 100 parts of engineering muck (by dry weight), 15 to 65 parts of inorganic lightweight aggregate, 5 to 30 parts of light calcined magnesia, 1 to 15 parts of magnesium chloride, 3 to 10 parts of a polymer emulsion, 0.2 to 1.5 parts of fiber and 0.1 to 1.5 parts of a modifier. According to the muck-based unfired lightweight thermal insulation material disclosed by the invention, the engineering muck is taken as a base material, the inorganic lightweight aggregate is taken as aggregate, and the light calcined magnesia, magnesium chloride and polymer emulsion are taken as composite cementing materials, so that resource utilization of the engineering muck is realized. The muck-based unfired lightweight thermal insulation material has the characteristics of light weight, thermal insulation, heat insulation and fire prevention, and can be widely applied to thermal insulation of building walls.
