Method for preparing aerogel material
The invention relates to a method for preparing an aerogel material, comprising the following steps: a) preparing a silica sol in an alcohol-containing solvent mixture; b) initiating gelation of the sol by adding a base wherein a gel is formed, and optionally aging the gel; c) hydrophobizing the optionally aged gel; d) removing the solvent mixture by subcritical drying, wherein the aerogel material is formed. The silica sol formed in step a) comprises at least one acid-catalytically activatable hydrophobizing agent, wherein the volume fraction of the hydrophobizing agent in the sol is 5 to 60%. The hydrophobization in step c) is initiated by the release or addition of at least one hydrophobization catalyst that interacts with a hydrophobization agent.
