The invention belongs to the field of automation, and particularly discloses an automatic reinforcing steel bar binding robot which comprises a vehicle frame, an advancing system, a climbing system, a translation system and a binding system, and the advancing system is used for driving the robot to move in the extending direction of reinforcing steel bars; the climbing system comprises a supporting arm and a climbing arm which are both mounted on the frame; the supporting arm is telescopic, one end of the climbing arm is fixed on the frame, and the other end of the climbing arm is clamped on the vertical reinforcing steel bar during climbing; the translation system comprises a longitudinal shaft transmission module and a vertical lifting module, in the longitudinal shaft transmission module, a rack is installed on the auxiliary frame, a transmission stepping motor, a screw rod and a gear are sequentially connected, and the gear is meshed with the rack; the screw rod is connected with a supporting beam which is fixed on the frame; the vertical lifting module is used for driving the binding manipulator to move in the vertical direction. By automatically executing the whole process of rebar binding site recognition, manipulator binding action, device overall translation, rail transfer and reversing and the like, manual rebar binding is replaced, and the construction efficiency is improved.
