The invention provides a preparation method of a short carbon fiber composite material, which comprises the following steps: selecting short carbon fibers, purifying at high temperature to remove metal ions in the short carbon fibers, then soaking the short carbon fibers in an acid solution, performing anode surface oxidation treatment in an electrolytic bath, soaking the short carbon fibers in a solution containing magnesium ions, and drying to obtain the short carbon fiber composite material. Then immersing into a solution containing boric acid and sodium azide for hydrothermal reaction, taking out, washing and drying to obtain modified carbon fiber, adding the modified carbon fiber into silicon dioxide sol, uniformly dispersing, standing and aging, and drying to obtain the carbon fiber composite material. According to the present invention, the obtained short carbon fiber composite material has characteristics of good mechanical property, low heat conductivity coefficient, low thermal conductivity and good thermal shock resistance stability, and can be used for the preparation of the aerosol-structured short carbon fiber composite material, such that the prepared aerosol-structured short carbon fiber composite material has characteristics of good thermal shock resistance and good thermal shock resistance; the material can be widely applied to thermal insulation, sound insulation and fireproof materials in the aspects of thermotics, acoustics, optics, microelectronics, particle detection and the like.
