The invention relates to building construction, in particular to a construction method for butt welds of high-altitude steel columns. Comprising the following steps that S1, multiple sets of upper clamping rings and lower clamping rings are welded below a connector of a steel column before the steel column leaves a factory; s2, an operation platform is manufactured on a construction site, and a first bottom frame and a second bottom frame are both in a concave shape and are symmetrically arranged; s3, a supporting frame is manufactured, and the right-angle part of the supporting frame is fixedly connected with a hook; s4, a first section of steel column is installed and constructed; s5, supporting frame installation; s6, the operation platform is installed, the first platform and the second platform are hoisted to the supporting frame, the first platform and the second platform surround the first section of steel column, and the connecting plates of the first bottom frame and the second bottom frame are connected through bolts; and S7, hoisting butt joint of the second section of steel column is conducted on the operation platform. The operation platform is simple in structure, convenient to assemble and disassemble and capable of being disassembled, moved and repeatedly used, construction safety is guaranteed, a good welding environment is provided, welding quality is improved, and welding defects are avoided.
